To enhance the City’s integrated stormwater management planning efforts, by focusing on public space, including implementation of green infrastructure pilots on public property.

Lessons learned about tools and tactics through the project that other sustainability directors could use to advance their work.

Careful and diligent tracking are of the utmost importance. Tapping university resources to help bridge program costs and expertise, along with securing community buy-in and support through thoughtful and comprehensive outreach, participation and engagement also added to the success of the project.

Lessons for developing a collaborative process between a local government sustainability director and local place-based foundation(s).

Allotting for ample and significant time to reach out to the local place-based foundation and to scope out potential projects of mutual interest was critical.  This is an iterative process, and must be initiated by city staff well in advance.
